We want to make you aware of a phishing scam that has recently come to our attention. Unauthorised individuals have set up a trial account and used our platform to send phishing emails. These emails may include various types of personal information that have been obtained from external sources (including data breaches unrelated to Dext) and make threatening claims or demands. Please be assured that you are not being contacted as a result of any data breach in Dext’s platform or systems, your data was obtained from somewhere else, Dext was just used as an email service and we didn’t leak any of your data to the attacker who appears to be a rogue actor exploiting a feature on our platform. However, as your data appears to have been compromised elsewhere, we would strongly recommend that you take appropriate precautions including updating your passwords and checking accounts which may have been compromised. Remember that you should avoid using the same password on multiple platforms. We also suggest visiting Have I Been Pwned to see if your email address has been involved in any known data breaches. We have also now taken steps to mitigate this activity to prevent it from happening again, and we have identified and suspended the accounts responsible.
